Responsive is not a checkbox at the end of a project. Layout, type sizes, tap targets and image weight are decided per breakpoint while the design is being made. Drag through the widths below — this is a live layout, not a screenshot.

The layout reflows — it does not shrink. Columns collapse, navigation becomes a menu, and the button stays thumb-sized.

What design actually changes

The same words, before and after

Design is not decoration applied at the end. It is the decision about what someone reads first, what they can safely ignore, and what they are meant to do next. Drag the handle — the content is identical on both sides.

Scope

What a website build includes

Everything below is part of the quoted price. Nothing here is an upsell discovered halfway through the project.

Discovery and structure

Who the site is for, what they need to do, and which pages genuinely earn their place before anything is designed.

Custom design

A layout built around your offer and brand — not a purchased theme with your logo dropped into it.

Responsive development

Phone, tablet and desktop treated as three real designs, tested on actual devices rather than a browser resize.

SEO foundations

Clean heading structure, fast templates, correct metadata and internal linking, built in from the first page.

Content setup

Your existing copy and images placed properly, with guidance on what is missing and what is working against you.

Accessibility basics

Real contrast, keyboard navigation and sensible labels — so the site works for everyone who lands on it.

Launch and handover

Pre-launch checks, a careful go-live, and a written handover so another developer could pick it up tomorrow.

Training

A walkthrough of how to edit your own pages, recorded so you can watch it again in six months.

How the build runs

Four stages, with something to look at in each

A typical business website runs three to six weeks, depending on how much content exists at the start. You see progress weekly — nothing is saved up for a reveal.

01

Discover

Your customers, the enquiries you want more of, and what the current site gets wrong.

02

Structure

Sitemap, page purposes and the wireframe of the key templates — agreed before visual design starts.

03

Design & build

Design and development together, reviewed on a real staging URL you can open on your own phone.

04

Launch

Redirects, checks, go-live, handover and training. Then we watch the first week of real traffic.

Scope and cost

What actually moves the price

Website quotes vary because projects do. Tick what applies and the scale on the right shows roughly where a build like yours sits — no email required, and no number pretending to be a quote.

Questions

Website design and development, answered

How much does a website cost in Toronto?
It depends on what the site has to do, which is why the quote follows a conversation rather than a price list. A focused brochure site, a site with booking, and an online store are genuinely different builds. What stays consistent is that the price is fixed against a written scope before any work starts, so the final invoice matches the one you approved.
How long does a website take to build?
Three to six weeks is typical for a business website. The single biggest variable is content — projects where the copy and images already exist move quickly; projects waiting on text take as long as the text takes. You get milestone dates in the plan rather than a vague estimate.
Do you use WordPress or something custom?
Usually WordPress, because you can edit it yourself and any developer in Toronto can maintain it. Where a project genuinely needs something else, we say so and explain the trade-off. What we will not do is build on a proprietary platform that makes leaving expensive.
Will the site be fast, and will Google find it?
Both are build requirements here, not afterthoughts. Core Web Vitals are treated as a target during development, and the heading structure, metadata, internal linking and sitemap are set up before launch. Ranking still takes time and content, but the foundations will not be what is holding you back.
Can I edit the website myself afterwards?
Yes. You get a walkthrough at handover, recorded so you can rewatch it, and the pages are built to be edited without breaking the layout. If you would rather not touch it, a care plan covers the updates for you.
What if I already have a website?
Then the first question is whether it is worth keeping. Sometimes the structure is sound and the problem is presentation or speed, which is cheaper to fix than to replace. We will tell you honestly which situation you are in, including when the answer is that you do not need a new site at all.
